Artist Statement

The majority of my work consists of woodblock relief and silkscreen printing methods printed on paper, fabric, or concrete in a repetitive manner that is heavily influenced by nature.

My most effective work not only impacts me, but speaks to people all around me. While some of my struggles are universal, some are still seen as taboo or unapproachable, like invisible illnesses and food insecurity. Through the use of recognizable images and graphic layouts, I try to depict serious issues in a more approachable manner. By utilizing humor and light-hearted images, I hope to invite viewers to reconsider what is seen as acceptable in society, and what needs to change.

These works are formed with one simple graphic in mind that can then be grouped and manipulated into a larger print. My work is guided by the process of printmaking. The methodology of how artwork is being made, not only is a meditative process, but allows time to consider the sustainability of each piece. Artwork needs not to center on sustainability in theme to be eco friendly. By adjusting my everyday practices to be more environmentally aware, I am able to ground myself with the earth and within my own artwork. The goal is to either raise awareness, or provide a much needed distraction in times of distress.
